Principal's Message

 

Dear Corey Community,

It is with great honor and excitement that I welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. I am pleased to announce that this year, Corey is the home to full-day preschool. Our community is growing to educate scholars as young as two years old. Our school is the perfect place to introduce the values of an inclusive community to our newest additions through our core beliefs in Work, Respect, and Belonging. We also welcome families participating in the Academy for Accelerated Learning. You are now members of the Corey community, and we look forward to supporting you both virtually and in- person. 

This year, Corey will maintain high expectations for academics with continued focus on Cognitively Guided Instruction in Math and Balanced Literacy (Workshop Model). We are also excited to move forward with our Visual and Performing Arts programs, and we look forward to a variety of school-wide showcases and events. 

Creating an inclusive community where all students feel valued and respected as individuals is a foundational belief at Corey Elementary School. This year, you will see much more information about how we are working to ensure that students of all ability levels are supported in ways that meet their unique needs. This communication includes highlighting the wonderful work of our Inclusion Teachers. Our vision and commitment to an inclusive community servicing students of all abilities is as follows: 

Corey School has an inclusive and collaborative whole systems approach to education where ALL learners have equal access to deliberately designed, student-centered curricula intended to challenge, support, and respect students’ inherent dignity and autonomy. The school community has a problem-solving mindset devoted to optimizing learning opportunities, ensuring every student achieves at the highest level, socially, emotionally, academically, and physically. 

My hope for each of you this year is the following:

  • You feel connected to our school as an active participant. 

  • You know that you are valued and supported.

  • You believe in our collective ability to grow. 

My commitment this year is to ensure that I support our community in ways that are impactful and meaningful and that celebrate our individual and collective diversity.
